Material | AFM 20 is composed of a pegged and galvanized steel core. An asbestos-free soft material compound is applied to both sides of the core containing aramide fibres, inorganic fillers and high-grade binder elastomers.
Properties | AFM 20 shows good stress resistance and conforms well to sealing faces.
Application | For cylinder head gaskets in mid-range internal combustion engines, for other sealing joints exposed to mechanical and thermal stress, e.g. intake and exhaust manifolds, transmission flanges and high-pressure pumps.
Surfaces | Special coatings applied over the entire surface or parts thereof are available for special applications, e.g. an anti-stick coating on a PTFE basis (also possible on materials in roll form) or a QJ coating on a silicone basis which improves micro-sealing (only available as a finished gasket). Screen printing with various elastomers is also possible.
